two brief conversationS

How monotonous our speaking becomes when we speak only to ourselves, And how insulting to the other beings...that no longer sense us talking to them, but only about them, as though they were not present in our world.” D. Abram

Two Brief Conversations grapples with material dialogues, extending practices of deep listening to consider how exchange can occur in attentive, care-ful ways between human and non-human entities. Developed using a radical site-inclusive methodology, this site specific installation is a durational engagement with the elements, weather and landscape at site 61.560698, 23.091651. The installation offers two human made objects to the site. Exploring what more-than-human languages look, sound and feel like, the translucent materials first make visible a collaborative conversation with the choreographic language of air. Over time, the installation will bare the mark of material dialogue- staining, etched in the material and temporal language of snow falling and melting, rain, the decay of undergrowth and the passing of seasons. This seeks to consider the practical application of New Materialist and Eco-queer theoretical frameworks.
