STRICKEN
STRICKEN is a short speculative fiction work that takes place in the final days of an Australian cattle station in a dry and fatal future. Published in DARK MOUNTAIN ISSUE 18 FABULA, and accompanied by the illustrations of Finnish artist Petra Carlson, Stricken imagines a future in which the current land management practices have resulted in extreme water scarcity and subsequent decimation of all life in remote pockets of the country. Stricken highlights human dependance on non-human ecologies, and speculates on what lies ahead, balancing the harrowing and the hopeful.
